Flickr, which always was the best photo sharing site, is 7 years old this year.
Will it be around 7 years from now? BusinessInsider blames the drop in Flickr traffic on Yahoo (who acquired Flickr) missing the mobile wave. Maybe. One nice thing about Flickr is that it isn’t changing every few minutes. Even so, new features appear to trickle out, just today I learnt about Guest Pass. Had no idea it was there, might have been there for years, and it’s not like I didn’t look. When a friend used a similar feature on Google’s Picasa albums I wanted to do the same.
I like Flickr, like it enough to pay for something other business models provide for free-ish. But I wonder whether it will survive and how time consuming the data migration will be if it doesn’t.
